The central idea was to follow the lines of the site and the existing buildings. The existing buildings are at a much larger scale to the observatory therefore the new building had to be sensitively incorporated into the site while ensuring that the spatial relationships are greatly taken into consideration. The spaces were relatively small, only 300sqm was allowed for the total building. Essentially the spaces were divided between the observatory society and the school with no spatial hierarchy between these two made evident. All in all a fun small project that had to fit into practical parameters.
